Dr. Khan specializes in addressing challenges where individuals, couples, or families feel trapped in unhealthy patterns. For children, she incorporates play therapy, art therapy, and psychodrama. In dealing with loss, trauma, and childhood abuse, Dr. Khan employs Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
When assisting couples in understanding, strengthening and repairing their relationships, she utilizes emotionally focused therapy, Gottman couples methods and sex therapy. Offering both face-to-face and online therapy, Dr. Khan ensures a compassionate and non-judgmental approach in all interactions, making therapy accessible and discreet for clients worldwide. The convenience of asynchronous communication through email exchange has proven beneficial for many clients, particularly those with busy schedules or preferences for privacy.
“Welcome! I am so pleased you are here. Entering therapy is a courageous step, one that often involves stepping out of your emotional comfort zone. Throughout our consultation, I will provide support and encouragement as you work towards your therapy goals. Living authentically and realizing your full potential may require grappling with challenging choices and navigating tough trade-offs. In my therapeutic practice, I embody a caring, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach. As a therapist, I cultivate an environment that encourages curiosity, humor, mindful awareness, and compassion, complemented by my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Creative Arts Therapy.
Guided by anti-oppressive and person-centered practices, I dedicate time to understanding how past experiences may influence your present while prioritizing your unique goals. I firmly believe in the inherent potential of individuals to grow, find satisfaction, and lead fulfilling lives. My goal is to assist you in achieving your life goals through a non-judgmental and respectful therapeutic journey. Together, we will explore these aspects, encouraging you to reflect on your therapy objectives and consider the necessary steps to achieve your goals.
In culturally informed counselling, we address generational and racial trauma, empowering you to pursue emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Through a holistic lens, we collaboratively work to overcome emotional imbalances that may be hindering your ability to fully express yourself in daily life.
For those in the BIPOC and immigrant community, seeking counselling may evoke hesitancy. However, through an initial complimentary consultation, you have the opportunity to voice any questions about counselling and gain insights into what you can expect from the process. Taking this first step towards mental wellness allows you to live life on your terms. I eagerly anticipate our conversation and the opportunity to support you on your journey.”
