NATURE THERAPY EXPLAINED

What Is Nature Therapy?

Nature therapy, also called nature-based therapy, ecotherapy or walk-and-talk therapy, brings professional counselling into outdoor settings. It combines therapeutic conversation with gentle movement, sensory awareness, reflection and connection with the natural environment.
At Noorify Counselling, Ileah Snell, MCP-AT, RCC, offers nature therapy in North Vancouver and Vancouver. Your initial consultation takes place by secure telehealth. Before your first outdoor session, you and Ileah discuss your goals, mobility, privacy, weather and a setting that feels safe and supportive. You and Ileah discuss your goals, accessibility, privacy, weather and a natural setting that feels safe and supportive.

QUESTIONS ARE WELCOME

What people often ask before booking

Is nature therapy confidential?

Outdoor sessions involve different privacy limits than office-based counselling. Ileah discusses these with you beforehand and chooses quieter settings to support your comfort and privacy.

Do I need to be physically fit?

No. Nature therapy is not a fitness class or guided hike. Sessions involve gentle walking, sitting or a combination of both. The pace and location are chosen around your comfort and mobility.

What happens if the weather changes?

You and your therapist agree on a backup plan before the session. Options include adjusting the location, meeting indoors or rescheduling when needed.

Are sessions covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. CVAP and ICBC coverage options are also available. Check your plan for details.
